Diesel Engine Catalysts
Diesel engines are more fuel-efficient than gasoline engines. However, with the tightening of exhaust gas regulations, diesel engine exhaust gas purification systems have become more complex, and the performance required of catalysts is increasing enormously. Cataler continues to take on new challenges related to diesel vehicles.
HC-SCR (hydrocarbon selective catalytic reduction) catalyst
As regulations on nitrogen oxides (NOx) are tightened, SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems, which use urea as a reducing agent to purify NOx, are becoming the mainstream. However, this system also presents challenges. These include obliging users to replenish urea, and providing space for equipment such as urea tanks. In this regard, the HC (Hydrocarbon)-SCR catalyst developed by Cataler can purify NOx using hydrocarbons (HC) produced by decomposition of fuel as a reducing agent, making it very convenient and easy to install.
