Sustainability Management
The promotion of sustainability provides a foundation on which the Cataler Group can continue to grow and thrive in the future. In order to build a relationship of trust with all stakeholders and provide an ahead-of-the-times value, we will create a system in which both the organization and people can grow autonomously, and practice our management philosophy.
Promotion System
Cataler recognizes that the realization of our "basic philosophy" contributes to the development of a sustainable society, so we have established the "CSR Committee" with the aim of determining our direction, approving of our activity plans, and assessing the results, as we make company-wide efforts based on the "Cataler Group Sustainability Guidelines." In this committee, we make efforts to promote our sustainability activities. We formulate and monitor plans, aiming at the achievement of our "sustainable development goals (SDGs*)" with the focus on key issues (materiality).
SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)
The SDGs are international goals for a sustainable and better world by 2030. The SDGs are listed in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted at the United Nations Summit and the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015, succeeding the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) established in 2001.
Consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets, it pledges to “leave no one behind” on earth.
The SDGs are universal not only for emerging countries but also for developed countries, and Japan is also actively working on them.

Stakeholder
The 'stakeholder" has the meaning of "interested party". On the business scene, it broadly refers to all parties involved in business operations (shareholders, managers, employees, customers, business partners, etc.).
Approach to key issues (materiality)
Cataler was founded to solve the social problem of purifying harmful gases emitted from automobiles. Since our foundation, we have been researching and developing environmental technologies to protect the global environment and human health. In addition, Cataler's products are working to solve air pollution around the world, and achieving the SDGs is consistent with Cataler's philosophy. In 2020, we related "Cataler's corporate activities" to the 'SDG targets" and, based on the results, we identified 3 key issues (materiality) to be addressed using the following 2 evaluation axes, and are promoting efforts to address them.

In-house penetration
At Cataler, we are working to penetrate awareness of CSR among our employees in order to promote sustainability management.
Implementation of sustainability awareness training
We provide training for each and every level of employees to raise their CSR awareness according to their position.
CSR Awareness Month
In order to promote understanding of CSR and sustainability, and foster awareness of compliance among employees, we have designated October as CSR Awareness Month. During the period, various initiatives are implemented, including workshops for all levels of employees, comprehension tests in the company handbook on laws and regulations/ethics of conduct, and feature articles in the company newsletter.
E-learning training on business and human rights

- ・Watching DVDs and exchanging opinions on diversity at each workplace
- ・Tree-planting activities at the tsunami-prevention forest, and other activities

Non-financial information disclosure through sustainability reports
In sustainability reports, we report our basic policy for Cataler Group's sustainable growth, achievements of our initiatives, our future plans, and detailed non-financial information.
Example of Cataler's Sustainability
Cataler manufactures exhaust gas purification catalysts for automobiles and motorcycles that detoxify harmful substances discharged from internal combustion engines. In other words, we believe that conducting business activities with the mission of cleaning the air around the world will contribute to the creation of a sustainable future society that is friendly to nature and people.
