Carrier (Support)

A substance that serves as a base for adsorbing exhaust gas components and fixing other substances such as precious metals. Typical carriers (supports) for catalysts or absorbents include alumina, silica, and activated carbon. In electrocatalysts for Fuel Cell Vehicles, a carrier serves as a support for very high dispersion of platinum-cobalt particles and at the same time acts as an electronic conductor
